40 years with no program, they bring it back, and then 14 games later the program shuts down again. Wild.

Baseball an a blue field WOULD be kinda' funky, though!

Welcome back, Danger. (H'mmm...sounds like a good TV show title, there.)

Actually, I was wondering about football.

What happened to their baseball program? Did the NCAA shut them down after Bo Jackson’s visit to Tampa Bay?

Blue. It matches their color scheme and is a metaphor for getting all hot and excited for starting baseball and then getting it shut down before their season climaxes.

Weren't you the one who used the "squeeze to juice ratio" expression in the past? You seem to like these kind of metaphors.

I don't recall ever using that phrase...but on the other hand I don't recall a lot of things. I may have referred in the past to Robert Johnson singing

"Now you can squeeze my lemon 'til the juice run down my
'Til the juice rune down my leg, baby, you know what I'm talkin' about
You can squeeze my lemon 'til the juice run down my leg
That's what I'm talkin' 'bout, now
But I'm goin' back to Friar's Point, if I be rockin'to my head",

lyrics recorded by Johnson in Dallas in 1937 and presumably stolen from a previous recording earlier in 1937 by Roosevelt Sykes but then subsequently stolen by Led Zeppelin.

or maybe a conversation I overheard once between my friend Pierre and another man about the consequences of dehydration.

Nevertheless, I am a scholar of American roots music, how it evolved and developed from a culture of hardship and discrimination and the role it played within that culture. As root music, the blues is about as rootier as it gets and Robert Johnson was the King of the Delta Blues afterall. Much of the early blues had double meanings and were full of double-entendre, imagery and symbolism. It provided a "secret language" for blues singers to communicate about aspects of life and hardship that were often forbidden in polite society that they were all too often not allowed to be part of..
