  • Offseason football thread

271 days 'til kickoff. We are now 3.56% of the way through the offseason.

Star-Telegram had reporting this morning on three Frogs' respective decisions to return in 2022:
    • Wes Harris is planning to utilize the extra year of eligibility and return next season as a super senior.
    • Noah Daniels is waiting to hear what his grade is from the NFL Draft advisory committee before he decides to return or go pro.
    • Obinna Eze, as was expected at the time he transferred in, has declared for the draft.

Noah Daniels tweeted this afternoon that he is "returning to school in 2022"

Pessimists might point out that he didn't specify that he would be returning to his current school, but hopefully we'll get clarification on that soon.

Got a nice email from TCU today on the hiring of Dykes and asking for season ticket monies.

I upchucked a little as I'd just eaten.

A Masterpiece Season for Baylor Football and Coach Dave Aranda

After last year’s 2–7 campaign, the Big 12 champions are sitting pretty thanks to their coach’s low-key, high-character style.

The 2022 opener at Colorado has been moved to Friday 9/2.

The unanswered question is will it end up on the P12N, ESPN1/2/U or FS1.
              Yeah....I dont believe it either....

I think a lot of the Friday night Pac 12 games have been on FS1.

Not TCU football, but my neighbor scored his second TD of the season yesterday for the Colts, both off of blocked punts. Not bad for a second team linebacker. He didn't block either punt but did have a block last year.

Saw a post on a stats site that examines conference realignment using R (my personal favorite stats tool) and ggplot graphics.

Dushee-lover types might find it interesting! Discusses TCU specifically in a small section as it gets analytically highlighted due to all the moves..

If you know R, you'll notice that the code provided in that entry shows examples of direct links to the college football database API. Don't know how dushee gets its inputs, but that interface looks pretty convenient.

Another interesting entry by the same guy shows longstanding ooc rivalries. Nothing surprising, but shows the database API again. Of course TCU v. SMU makes the final output. https://jlaw.netlify.app/2021/12/27/...s-with-ggraph/

I feel like Demercado is approaching Ramon Flanigan status. Flanigan played QB at SMU for at least 23 years ...

Ramon Flanigan played with Doak Walker and Eric Dickerson and still had three years of eligibility left.
